is a very good way to start the Christmas season. The Christkindl market in Nurnberg is one of the most popular and outstanding markets in all of Germany. We arrived 2 days before the market started and attended the opening ceremonies in the Hauptmarket where the angel gave the Christmas blessing. It was amazing but I have to stay it...

I must mention this is the only Christmas market I have been to, so I cannot make direct comparisons with others. But, I thoroughly enjoyed the Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg. The backdrop of Nuremberg's "Old Town" lends a specific charm to it. There are many, many wooden stalls brimming with Christmas decorations and offering traditional German foods (including bratwurst and sauerkraut),...

Found great gifts at the market. Spent about an hour on Saturday at the market and then took train to Rothenburg (about 2 hours) for the day. Took the Night Watchman Tour in Rothenburg and found lots of Christmas gifts.

We just got back from the Nuremberg Christmas Market, and it was amazing!
I have been to Christmas Markets before, but this was by far the best one I have visited! We went on a Sunday and a Monday and it was still busy, but easy to walk around.
There are many stalls with LOTS to eat and it has...

Having never been to a christmas market i wasnt really sure what to expect, but wasnt disapointed. There were so many stalls selling christmas decorations, food and mulled wine. The atmosphere was lovely. However it is not the place to go if you do not like crowds!! On the saturday of our stay you could hardly move around the market....

We picked this one on reputation and suggestion but we should have gone somewhere else. If you're looking for traditional or quaint than this isn't where you would want to go. The place has loads of the hot wine booths and those stale gingerbread cookies. Like every other booth is either one of those. Oh and sausages, too. It's crowded....

Some of the must-try are: Gluhwine, Lebruckuchen (pron as Lib-kuhan), sausages, there is a stall that serves a very good serving of meat in sticks with onions in between served with ketchup and some spicy taste of chilli and curry powder. You can stand around the stall as the heat from the meat being prepared is good to keep you...

Enjoy walking from one stand to another. Have gluhwein and sausages enjoy the atmosphere. It is ideal when it snows but always interesting. If possible avoid the weekends unless you are enjoying crowds but even then it is worthwhile. Go there to have some Christmas spirit.

This was the most commercial market we visited. Stalls packed tightly into the square, largely selling commercially made goods that look lovely at night but may disappoint in the cold light of day. . Best bratwurst we had anywhere ... nice and peppery. Most spicy gluhwein, which slips down all too easily. Brass band playing carols gets you in the...
