I really like this Rathaus compared to other cities. It just draws you back to the preiod. The square in front and the side appeals to me. You have to really time your visit when you come. The reenactment of the Mayor saving the town from invaders was really entertaining. Probably my favorate thing in Rothenburg. The locals really looked like midevil people and played their parts well. More

Beyond the architectural beauty of the town hall, the most important feature is the clock tower with the clockwork depicting the old mayor saving the town from destruction by drinking a huge jar of beer in one "Meister Trunk". More

The tower climb has great views! Well worth the climb and fee (that you pay at the top). Just note that the final set of “stairs” (basically a ladder) is pretty steep, so it might not be for everyone. I would recommend going early in the morning to avoid the crowds. More
