A great historical monument of the city, lots of tourists and tourist activities. Free English walking tours leave from this spot at around 11am every day. Can get your passport stamped here saying you visited East & West Germany. Make sure you stop by the Room of Silence, very humbling experience. more

As simple as going to see the Brandenburg Gate is, it's definitely not an attraction to miss. Think about all the history- the Gate was right next to the wall. It's open to Parisier Platz, which hosts embassies including the US embassy, and is also very near to the Reichstag building and the new Jewish memorial. And the architecture is... more

Impressive by day, beautiful by night. This landmark is must for anyone visiting Berlin. Men in anachronistic uniforms will (for a modest fee) give you a taste of the beaurocratically laborious hoops of passing through this gate during the Cold War in the form of approval stamps for your passage. Stamps required for boarder crossing included ones for East Germany,... more

the gate of Brandenburger Tor is a must, when visiting Berlin. Before the wall came down, the Tor was right in the middel and the area was a disgrase to the German people. Now you can take a biketour through the gates, but beware of alle the turist in the area. Its been renovated and lies in a quiet place... more

We were in the vicinity of the gate seeing various sights for several hours so passed by in both daylight and dusk. Out of the two I would definitely recommend being there as the sun goes down and at night. The visual impact of the gate is very impressive in the dark. more

The gate is truly a beautiful site in Berlin. Now if you're going to compare it to something like the Arc de Triomph or Arco di Constantino, it will certainly be underwhelming. However, as a symbol of the German spirit in the heart of its capital, it is a beautiful piece to stand in awe of. Word to the wise,... more

It's difficult to imagine the scary site which the Brandenburg Tor must have been only two decades ago. We spent the longest time during our visit sitting at the gate, listening to the buskers, watching the horses and carts, and the throngs of people smiling, photographing and generally enjoying themselves. There appears to be work going on to extend the... more
