The once glorious Unter den Linden - at least circa May 2012 - is an utter disappointment. The street is all torn up; there are road barricades everywhere. But even so, it's just another commercial street. I had heard it compared to Paris. mais non.

To walk this from the Brandenburg gate all the way round to the Deutsch Dom, is a wonderful stroll. Between the tree-lined street, endless cafes and restaurants and an assortment of cheap and classy souveneir shops, it can take some time. In March 2012 Unter den Linden was undergoing a refurbishing for which most of the "linden" (tilia) were cut and the middle of the road (which is usually the best part to walk) was open road. However, the architecture along the street remains impressive. Don't take the U-Bahn but walk from Brandenburg Gate to the Berlin Dom.

Its a beaten track in berlin but a must go place. Everything is beautful and well cared. I recomend go by bike so you can enjoy the whole street getting less tired
