you must hand It to the Germans; they have spend millions and more on renovating and re-generating the city. Unter den Linden still needs some work. Not bad, but certainly not excellent. More

The once glorious Unter den Linden - at least circa May 2012 - is an utter disappointment. The street is all torn up; there are road barricades everywhere. But even so, it's just another commercial street. I had heard it compared to Paris. mais non. More

To walk this from the Brandenburg gate all the way round to the Deutsch Dom, is a wonderful stroll. Between the tree-lined street, endless cafes and restaurants and an assortment of cheap and classy souveneir shops, it can take some time. On a warm summer evening, it's a great way to walk off dinner, and during the day you can... More

In March 2012 Unter den Linden was undergoing a refurbishing for which most of the "linden" (tilia) were cut and the middle of the road (which is usually the best part to walk) was open road. Unter den Linden is a nice place, you won't realise you're on the famous street half the time because there is so much to look at. More

If you only have a few hours and want to say you have seen Berlin, go to Alexanderplatz and walk along Unter den Linden towards the Gate. The street is scattered with both historical and modern sites on both sides. You will see the Berliner Dome, the Museum Island, the Opera House, Humboldt University, Babelplatz, the statues of Marx and... More
