Very interesting place, small exhibition, but definitely worth it. If you are in Berlin - spend an hour and visit this Synagogue, fees are not high, so anyone can afford it. Don't forget to go upstairs, I really enjoyed the staircase and synagogue itself with parts of original decorations still remaining in place. More

I had read online that this was a must see while in Berlin. I have always had an interest in the history of the Jewish people especially pre WWII in Germany. I was insistent with my partner that we go. Seeing the Dome from a distances, I thought for sure it was going to be a great experience, emotional and... More

Great but small exhibit on the history of the Jewish community in Berlin, specifically between the time of the synagogue's founding in the mid 19-th century and today. There is a small collection of artifacts, a model of the synagogue, and lots of text panels in both English and German. In my opinion it was slightly overpriced--the exhibit is 3... More

Expected to see architecture, tradition and history. Instead was "treated" to several rooms of dusty photos, at a relatively high price. I expected to be deeply moved during my first trip to Berlin, but instead was very disappointed. Synagogue only open during sabbath prayer, otherwise not really visible. Didn't understand websites I had read...because a "tour" was not available on... More

This is a must-see for anyone visiting Berlin. Visiting there, I was overwhelmed mostly by a great sense of lost. The exhibit displays pictures of ordinary people who studied there, worshipped there, celebrated their weddings or bar mitzvas. You know the rest. My feeling is that many Germans think their history began with the Berlin Wall. It doesn't. Go there. More

The Centrum Judaicum is in the front part of the Neue Synagoge on Oranienburgerstrasse. This is the part that survived Kristallnacht and then wartime bombings and subsequent post-war neglect. Restoration started in the late 1980's(GDR times) and was completed early 90's but you can still see traces of war-damage even in the renovated part. From photos and by going out... More
