Firstly I have to say that their website is pretty much useless (although I think tour details been updated now - too late for my visit, though). The opening times and when there are guided tours in English was impossible to ascertain. We checked again the evening before we went and it still claimed that guided tours in English were... More

The Stazi used this prison until the Wall came down in 1989, it has been left as it was since then. You are experiencing history rather than just looking at artifacts. More

The guide was very good, he know a lot about the building and brought it on a very interesting way. Looking at the cells you had the feeling that you were in the movie “Das leben der ander”. More

My husband and I took the English tour a few weeks ago, and we were impressed with the site, but not with our guide. Our guide was terrible, she didn't even wait for the whole group to get the tour started, she just took off. The only reason my husband and I followed the guide to begin with was because... More

I've real a lot of the german political history, but seeing the place live was stunning. If you have the time, take a tram and vitsit the prison. You won't regret. More

I visited the prison with a friend of mine who lives in Berlin. Surprisingly, a lot of people I met in Berlin had never been there. There was a group of students visiting the same time I was there. Every day at 2:30, is the English speaking tour. Our guide was excellent, although I'd hoped to have a former prisoner... More

We went on a guided tour of the prison, just trying to deepen our understanding of life during the communist era. What a chilling place. The English speaking guide was excellent. If the communist era interests you, this is a must to see. More

Took the M5 tram to Freienwalder stop, then walked down Freienwalder South 1/2 km to the prison. The ticket office is 100 meters south on the right. The English speaking tour is at 2:30 daily. Our guide spoke very good English and her father was a prisoner there. The prison is a real eye opener as to how the people... More

I went to Berlin with a Norwegian group and I ordered a tour for us. They even have a Norwegian speaking guide. Our guide had been imprisoned until Nov. 30th, 1989, and he didn't even know that the wall was history when he was released. So if you are a group, then you should check out if it might be... More
