The Neue Nationalgalerie always seems to have good shows on and the Gerhard Richter one is outstanding. As a big fan of his work I found this an excellent opportunity to see his work and it is a good collection with examples of most of his practice over the years. I had expected long queues, went on a Wednesday and... More

I am a modern art lover and usually I don't mind the queues, but I really dislike grumpy staff in galleries. When I finally made it to the collection, I felt kind of post-war disillusionment. More

There's never been a more perfect blend of building and art. I am a fan of modern and contemporary art and this museum is simply simpatico with the art it houses. The first floor is bathed with just enough natural light and the setting truly exalts the art within. More

I've been there multiple times, and there's always been something new. It's also very spacious, so it's never been crowded when I've been there. More

I am usually not that big a fan of post WWII art, but this museum did an excellent job of changing that view. It offers an opening exhibit that shows the effects of the war on the artistic psyche, and helps to make sensible the various movements that characterized modern art in both Europe and North America since then. I am not quite sure what I expected, but I was somewhat disappointed when I visited Neue Nationalgalerie. The exibition showed pictures and sculptures of German artists from the period from 1900-1945, and some of it was interesting and beautiful, but most of the art did not speak to me at all. I finished only half of the exhibition, since... More

The website for the New National Gallery doesn't really raise expectations but it really has some very fine and though provoking art. We weren't always sure what was the main collection and what was a temporary exhibition but during our 3 hours or so there, we saw many extraordinary things. Where art went missing or was destroyed during or by... More

This museum is around the corner from the Gemalgalerie and is included in the 3 day museum pass (an incredible bargain); they currently have a special exhibit of art though the 1940's that is astoundingly good. Don't miss it. More
