The barrier included guard towers placed along large concrete walls. The Wall was mostly demolished between June and November 1990 but a restored stretch remains along the southern border of Wedding and Mitte. « less

It's amazing to think that the erection started as late 1961. While there isn't a great deal left of it the section with art is really worth a visit. The concrete structure looks like it could stand for ever, as long as the reinforcement doesn't rust away. The depth of the wall on the eastern side was a big surprise... More

It is wonderful that the location of the wall is still documented by the bricks in the street. Where the wall is intact you can see what separated a great city at a terrible time in history More

Was good to see what I had heard much about during my childhood. Part of the wall still stands as part of a museum and tourist attraction. Good to see - thought it would have been higher than it was! More

There isn't much left of it--just a short remnant, half destroyed and fenced off from further souvenir seekers. Certainly a physical piece of the most visible icon of the Cold War, but more interesting is the double line of cobbles that have been embedded along the entire route and exact placement of the Wall when it existed. Checkpoint Charlie has... More

Lots of litter and hobos lying around, apart from that it was an experience to see the wall. More

Not much left of the wall. Check point charlie is a tourist joke. I was there forty years ago for the real thing, however the interesting bit is the kilometer stretch of the wall which has excellent art work. More

The prior generation had WWII; we have the fall of the Berlin Wall (while we try to forget Vietnam!). A remarkable and emotional day spent near the Wall and Check Point Charlie... More

Go to the East Side Gallery (a long part of the original wall, between the river and the O2 World Arena). The pictures there will be great. You can find other pieces of it easily at Potsdamer Platz and in some other sites. More
