The gardens are glorious especially with spring colors, ponds and monuments. Potsdam abounds with castles, villas and scenery. It is well worth a visit of at least a day but better if you spend a few days there. More

good guided tour of Sans Souci, which was very interesting. Unfortunately we couldn't get into the kitchens or picture gallery because our party had not been issued with individual tickets, which we then discovered were necessary! Nice formal gardens and a working windmill which sells flour. More

We only had time for half day excursion to Potsdam but I would highly recommend a full day there. Lots of interesting buildings and gardens to explore (since our stay was so short we didn't pay to go in the buildings). The Potsdam gardens are very well maintained and vast. Exploring them by walking takes many days, by bus you don't see enough and can not appreciate the atmosphere.
