We went to Rudesheim as a stop on a Rhine river cruise and were told about this street. It was touted as the highlight of the town. What a let down! It's just a tourist trap. Yes, the buildings are quaint but it's packed with cafes and bars. Fortunately we went in the morning and there weren't any people. I...

The Drosselgasse in Ruedesheim is a narrow street with a zillion restaurants and souvenir shops. Sophisticated it isn't, but if you want a good value no frills meal or to absorb some Germanic atmosphere, it's a good destination.

this is the main street in the town. It is a very quaint town with a lot of German ambiance. The people were very friendly and the stores were lovely to browse. there were many excellent restaurants off of the street and it was a short walk to the area where our boat was parked from the Rhine Cruise.

Be sure to take your time and truly meander while you look up as...

This is one of the most charming streets I have come across whilst travelling in Europe. It is very narrow, usually packed with tourists and has many shops selling souvenirs to tourists. This is not the place I would normally head for but it has an ambiance which I find difficult to explain. Many of its shops sell high quality...

On the last evening of our 2-day stay in Ruedesheim, when we happened to pass thru Drosselgasse,it suddely and unexpectedly started raining! It should be prohibited, but that is what does happen, though many reviewers forget or purposely omit this fact. We just went right into a"Wein & Biergarten",an
outdoor and very German taverntype, mainly because it had a canopy over the tables. That instant...
