For 11 Euro/person, take the 2-person cable car up through the wineyards to the wanderweg (walkway) and to the monument. Having been through Europe, this is the most accessible and most well maintained monument I've seen so far. The clear blue sky behind it made it a spectacular site. The monument is only a small part of the experience. Taking the cable car up to the monument offers amazing sight-seeing possibilities for very little money. For just 11 euro, you can buy a circle ticket that includes the ride up one side of the hill to the monument, from which you'll look out over the vineyards and the Rhine.... more
