Superb gardens with amazing features - just don't bank on getting around in a couple of hours - it's huge!
I visited in August 2012 with a special friend who was a local so knew the gardens well. We started walking through an area dominated mainly by parkland, so lots of green areas and trees. Wonderful manicured gardens and the light shows and fireworks during the summer are fabulous. Well worth a visit. The walk back into town througt the park is also do-able - wear comfy shoes.
This is a very pretty place to visit. We started off in the museum and had a look at the artefacts, most had an English translation next to them. This was very interesting and gave a history to the place and Germany around that era. There is a gift shop with nice postcards for a small price to buy, books... More

If you are going to the international fireworks competition the doors open at about 1830, but you don't need to get there until 2000, and even there you'll have over an hour to wait. By the way beware the fireworks can start up to 15 mins early! Stand in the centre at the back looking up the gardens.
Although not terribly well signposted, we enjoyed the gardens on both sides of the road and thought it was good value for money, though there are no concessions!
There are 3 big parks - Gross Garden, Berggarten and Georgien Terrassen. The last one is free big park. The 2nd one is very nice Botanic Garden, And the 1st one is very nice park with fountains and sculptures. I like and recommend it very much! If you'd like to visit all of it - it's better to buy combi... More
