As keen gardeners we visited the Gardens catching the 'train' outside the Dom.(6 euros return). When we first entered there were beds of tulips sadly just going over so we thought very nice and if only we had come a few days earlier. On a pretty day, one of my favorite things to do is walk or bike down the Rhine to Rodenkirchen with a picnic and spend the day enjoying the place and soaking up sunshine in the Forstbotanischer Garten. More

Wonderful! Not only are the plants and landsacping beautiful, but the gardens are packed with wildlife. We saw kingfishers hunting on the lake and newts doing courtship displays in one of the ponds. The population of naturalised 'wild' green parrots are also enchanting. The garden is easy to get to from the city centre. We spent 4 hours wondering round... More

this is such a beautifully kept garden, with lots of features, colourful plants, places to rest and bursting greenhouses, you wonder how it can all be free of charge. if you go to cologne, take a picnic or even just a camera and enjoy. More
