Nice gardens to walk around but thought would be able to see inside the Schloss - not possible. Guided tours only - person we spoke to not very helpful. Nice cafe, though! More

Having lived next to this fantastic park for a few years I can really recommend a day trip almost any time of year to enjoy the nice looks, green lawns, playgrounds, jogging paths and more. Of course, in spring time when the magnolia trees are in bloom it offers an orgy in pink for the photo interested. The castle offers... More

We went during peak winter and again during start of summer. However, this place is good for bicycle riders who can go around the palace and then continue along the river to go back to the city. The palace has a huge pond in the middle and is surrounded by what must have once been a forest! The ducks and... More

One of the few sightseeings I did when in Duesseldorf, certainly worth its effort. Huge gardens with flowers that blossom, realy old building with amazing details on the roof. Make sure you will spend 2-3 hours there on a sunny day to make it worth. More

My hometown for 30 years and one of the best castles in the neighborhood. Easy acces by tram for 2 euro per person, 30 minute ride *tram has their own track most of the way from downtown* get the tour and you don't have to go to france for the castles. MeuterMedia More

We visited schloss Benrath in October 2011. It was a bright sunny day. The place is quite beautiful and we visited the main museum with the guided tour. The main museum is available only with guided tour. The museum is amazingly beautiful, but the guided tour is in German, being a foreigner, we were unable to understand anything. Though the... More

The three-wings complex was erected for the Palatine Elector Carl Theodor by Nicolas de Pigage in a late Rococo style with elements of Classicism. It is surrounded by magnificent garden(s) that made an excellent spring-day excursion. For more info please visit http://www.schloss-benrath.de/en/portal_stiftung/bootportal.asp . There is a combined ticket (10.40 EUR) for the museums and guided tour to the main bulding... More

If you are in the area this is an interesting couple of hours. I was lucky enough to get an English tour - not usually given but our small group were all English-speakers (even the Germans). IF you go skip the museums - all in German, and not very good regardless. More
