This was the first castle I visited in Germany and after two weeks of palaces, castles and gardens it remained on my top 5 list of MUST SEE things while in western Germany. I took the long hike from the parking lot and after 20+ minutes I was thinking "Where the hell is this friggin place?!".then I rounded the last...

Amazing historical site. The castle has been owned and occupied by the same family for over 30 generations!!! The guided tour (included in admission and mandatory for entry into the castle) was fabulous. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and spoke great English. The story, the history, and the preservation of literally hundreds of years of furnishings, decorations, and artifacts...

We visited this castle during a small holiday near the river Mosel in Germany. I've seen many castles and this is one of the more beautifull castles i've seen. It is less beautifull than Castle Neuschwanstein, but it older and has a more rich history. Also the tour is very informative as well as the treasury room.

This is a must see for any traveler. Castle sits in a very picturesque valley. I like this more than the bavarian castles. This place has almost 1000yrs of history. Truely amazing. You can picture yourself living back in the middle ages.
There is a steep road down to the castle maybe 3/4miles long not too bad. We did it...

So glad we did not listen to some of the negative reviews and decided to make the 20 minute diversion to Burg Eltz. You really get to see the true German country side during the ride, and assure that you follow the signs, not necessarily your GPS- ours initailly took us to the rear private entrance up and down a...

What a great experience this castle was!! I cannot recommend it highly enough. The guide was very knowledgable, friendly, funny and made the whole tour very enjoyable. We also visited Neuschwanenstein castle, which in comparison, looses against this one. Sure, Neuschwanenstein is pretty to look at and all, but you get rushed through the castle like a herd. Castle Eltz,...

We walked the 7 km in from the river through the town, the woods along the creek and over the bridge to get to the castle. It was a pleasant walk even if it was abit warm. The castle sat above the creek. It has been in one family for many generations and the present owner does occupy part of...

We drove quite a long way to get there and stopped at Koblenz to get directions and pick up some brochures.,.. we picked them up from the tourist info place and attempted to navigate our way according to the brochure., BIG No No... the map they had was incredibly misleading as it looked like it was a 5 minute drive...

The parking lot is a nice 1.5 Km or so walk from the castle, or there is a shuttle service for a small fee. Walking along a ridgeline gets you into nature and the thoughts of modern society out of mind just in time for Burg Eltz to come into view. Very cool looking, although not as famous or quite...
