The Holstentor once did feature the German 50 Mark note so it is a very well known side in Germany and travellers in Lubekc would be hard advised to not pay a visit and take some pictures but do not expect too much. It is located in a small park but with a major road on both sides and not... More

This old city gate was famously depicted on the old 50 Mark bills. This is not just the old city gate you can visit, its a wonderful little museum and trip through Luebeck's history. After undergoing renovations a few years ago the exhibits have been updated and are as entertaining as they are educational. Kids of all ages will love... More

Lübeck is my hometown and the Hostentor is one of the famoust landmarks in germany and the image was on the 50 DM Bill for many years. From here you can get a nice photospot of the historic Citycentre. And the Museum is worth a visit to. Here you can discover the history of the major city of the hanseatice... More

I saw many tourists using this landmark just for taking "the picture" of Lübeck but let me tell you that it goes fay beyond that usage, to visit the Holstentor museum is to learn about the importance of this city through time. Visiting the Holstentor museum made us learn about the city and experience it as Medieval town and as... More

The Holstentor is one of the most significant structures in German history. The iconic nature of this amazingly shaped gothic building is steeped in centuries of history. It is the gateway to the Hanseatic past and evokes a picture of what the Queen city of the Hansa once was. The outside of the Holstentor is tremendous - it is a... More

The entrance to the medieval old Lübeck is really beautiful and very well preserved. The twin towers in the Gothic style are the main postcard of the city and are also known as "The Witch's Hats". To me, that was ok to apreciate its outside, but for the most interested, there is also a visit to the interior of the... More
