El Torcal is a fantastic place to visit. We visited with our 7 year old son whilst staying just outside Villanueva de la Concepcion at a lovely homely self catering accommodation called Casita Higuera. There are 2 walks you can do round Torcal which were both suitable for a 7 year old and the wildlife made it extra special. My... more

The best way to view this wonder is to have climbed the mountain under human power. We rode up on our touring bicycles; 1,300 meters of climb in under 16 km. We dodged a herd of sheep on our way up. Whilst staying at the nearby Hotel La Posada el Torcal (a wonderful Hotel) we spent the morning in the El Torcal National Park. Get away from the Costas and travel back 250 million years in time to El Torcal Natural Park. The rock formations are absolutely stunning and the magnificent views down to Malaga and the Mediterranean are alone worth the trip.
