The Alcazaba is a few minute walk from the city center of Almeria. EU citizens get free entrance and a short information brochure. The complex is very well maintained and flower decked. From the Alcazaba you have a great view over the city of Almeria and the harbour. Except the Alcazaba and several nice tapas bars the city does not...

Its very beautiful there and it is definetively worth the visit! But Keep in mind that it's not a commercial attraction like the ones with several souvenir shops, etc. Its calm, genuine and a great way to spend some hours. Also gives a fantastic view of almeria city!

If you happen to be in Almería or surroundings, the Alcazaba complex has some lovely, reconstructed Arabic Gardens, right in the lower terraces of the monument. Plus the views of the city, the mountains and the Bahía are simply the best Almería can offer. Just avoid getting there between noon and 17:00 during summertime (which in Almería is late May-October!)

Even though Almeria isn't a tourist destination, the Alcabaza is a 'must see'. This fortress, located on a hill offers you splendid views on the city. The gardens of the Alcabaza are a must.
And what's best: citizens of the E.U. do not pay an entrance fee.

Almeria is very untouched by tourism and this is never more apparent than a visit to the Alcazaba. No queues, free entry and no hassle when you walk around. Fairly easy to get to; follow the signs through the streets. The walk up the steps to the top of the castle is wonderful and the grounds are immaculate. Water cascades...
