Its an odd museum reallly. Fine art (upstairs) and statues (downstairs). Exhibits range from mediaeval art to modern Miro. There is little background and information available but there are some important Spanish arists exhibited here, and it tracks the development of art from religious iconic imagery to images of 20th Spain and 20th century abstract and surrealist work. No Piccasso.

This museum feels both local and worldly. Most of the archaeological finds come from Cadiz and neighbouring seaside towns, but they reveal past cultures that have long since disappeared from the area.

Tucked away to the side of the main exhibition is a collection of work by local artists, including some real gems.
