- WanderingOttersonsDenver, Colorado1,380 contributionsThe BEST views of Alhambra and the mountains behindA must stop in Granda for the most fantastic views of Alhambra. Completely packed around sunset for the best viewing, it is not a bad spot for most parts of the day (when the sun is not directly behind Alhambra and ruining photos with the glare). At the busy times, you will also likely get some street music to set the tone for your viewing.Visited January 2023Written 21 March 2023
- A Midlife AdventureDursley, United Kingdom1,350 contributionsA view to remember foreverWe had taken ourselves on a spontaneous walk round the old town of Granada and eventually having walked through an archway that is part of the old city walls from Plaza Largo we found ourselves at the back of the Church of San Nicolas. As we came around the side of the church there before us was an unforgettable panorama. We had chanced upon the Mirador de San Nicolas. I honestly could not believe my eyes. The whole of the Alhambra Palace was laid out before me with the beautiful snow capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada nestled behind. Suddenly everything I had read and seen the day when visiting the place made sense. The Palace dominated the skyline, leaving everything below in its wake. There are not many views in the world that you see and know are going to stay in your memory forever but this is one of them. It probably ranks in my top three! Finding a vacant stone seat and ignoring the crowds I settled down and just stared in front of me. Feeling completely at peaceVisited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2023
- DocAntEast Grinstead, United Kingdom158 contributionsViews of the Alhambra are magnificentGranada is a lovely city - a mix of modern, stylish, historic and fascinating. Of course the Alhambra viewed from across the valley or explored in all its beauty is the highlight for us tourists and the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada with snow topped mountains is magnificent. If you are visiting Seville hop on a bus or train and spend a couple of days here. You won’t regret it!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 April 2023
- EmanpeeSydney, Australia2,814 contributionsWorth the uphill walk for views.Nice views after steep uphill walk from downtown. Can also take local bus route 31, or taxi if not up for the 'hike'. Church not open but is not large. Go for views, sunset would be very good as look across to the Alhambra. Local entertainment while we were there. All downhill on return walk.Visited April 2023Written 28 April 2023
- James SMadison, Wisconsin12 contributionsReally enjoyed our time thereOf course we went to see the Alhambra, which is … amazing. The tickets go fast, so book ahead and get the first e trace time, 9am. We stayed in a great little hotel, the Hotel Posada del Toro. It’s on a very active small street with a lot of restaurants and nightlife, but the windows are so soundproof you don’t even notice unless you want to. Breakfast only, no restaurant or bar. Very good and helpful staff.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 May 2023
- Charles SNorthamptonshire, United Kingdom1,051 contributionsMagical ViewpointOn our recent family visit to Granada, we enjoyed our visit to the Albaicin. Walking along the cobbled alleys, viewing the villas with their Moorish decoration and gardens. We then strolled up to the Mirador de San Nicolas for a magical view over the rooftops of the Alhambra. Even better when there is a sunset glowing backdrop.Visited June 2023Written 27 July 2023
- Sally62Northampton, United Kingdom5,221 contributionsGreat view of the AlhambraWe stayed for one night in a property just next to the Mirador which I wouldn't recommend doing as it is so noisy well into the early hours. Apart from that it is a fantastic place to get a great view of the Alhambra. It's a steep walk up from the city centre which takes about 20 minutes but lots of people come up in a taxi so there are plenty to take you back down again if you want. A few bars and cafes nearby.Visited September 2022Written 16 August 2023
- Alam HLondon, United Kingdom217 contributionsGreat View of the Alhambra Palace from there.Great place, very lively outside by the square, live painting, bands playing tradition music, singing. It’s a great view of the Alhambra Palace. It’s next to the mosques which also has Amazing View of the Alhambra Palace from the Masjid Court yard. It has a coffee / Gift shop aswell.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2023

Based on a principle of “Camera Obscura” it shows a live view of Old Cadix City. The whole contraption is situated on an ancient tower in the middle of the town. No pictures allowed, so you must see it by yourself. Have fun!Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 11 February 2024

Walk above the city to the Albayzin area, mirador view point ( in front of San Nicolas church) you can see the Sacromonte cave dwellings on the way down. Walk with Incline. There is also a bus that brings people up if the walk is too difficult for you. You have a beautiful view of Alhambra from San Nicolas. We went with a guide. Narrow winding streets easy to get lost.

Beautiful view of the Alhambra. It is a climb to get there from the Plaza Nueva so be prepared for a steep uphill walk for about 15 minutes. I’d the sky is clear, it is worth the walk. Plenty of place to stop for drink on the way down.

Came here right after visiting the Alhambra and it was a nice walk up to this viewpoint. Nice to visit in the later afternoon with perfect sunlight and the sunset crowds not yet there. Sit and take it all in!

The way up the winding streets isn't marked well. It takes around 20 minutes to climb up from the city center. At sunset it's extremely crowded, but the views of Alhambra are beautiful

The Mirador de San Nicholas is the best viewpoint of the Alhambra. It is in the heart of the Albayzin neighborhood and is in a small plaza with incredible views of the Alhambra. I highly recommend!

The best mirador to see the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada Mountains, and also the Albaicín. Usually quite crowded, but pleasant music in the background.

Best view from the top. You can see Alhambra and Nasrid palaces.
There are lots of stairs to climb but totally worth the effort.

Hi, somebody told me there’s a train that runs from Seville to Granada for 1hr 30mins, but I couldn’t find it in Renfe site or in googlemaps.
Does anybody here knows about it & where or how to book?

Is there a way to get here without walking. We will be travelling with a baby. Can we bring a stroller?

Drive to the top (cab or rental) - lots of parking. Then walk down and admire the view. If you feel the need to go down a few steps you can but its pretty awesome from the top and with a baby I'd say that would be a great compromise.
