In the end, we really enjoyed the fabulous music, but we went on a Saturday night and the place was completely jammed with tourists, many of whom really didn't get it that the performers were not there as background music but rather were putting on a pretty sophisticated concert. After a few reasonably polite attempts to quiet the crowd down... more

I was eavesdropping on the second show of Los Gallos via the emergency exit door that looks out to a mini plaza with orange trees, when I saw two musicians step out. Approached the bailaor and he was very friendly. He quickly understood that I was looking for a "peña" or real flamenco tablao, and he recommended La Carbonería for... more

My girlfriend and I went here one night and it was excellent. There is no cover and a lot of locals come here. It seems like the tourists come for the first show and the locals come in for the second show. First show is at 11pm and second is at 1am. The show lasts about 1 hour or so.... more
