Beautiful old church with a very expensive relic inside

I've visited this basilica several times at different times of the year and while one would expect it to be full at Easter, I was surprised at the constant flow of worshippers and pilgrims at a less religious time of the year. In fact, there were more tourists than worshippers at Easter. I've been to both St Peter's in Rome...

Yes I am a tourist but it was full to the brim of people ignoring the sign saying "no photos" and barging around. Also you can't wear shorts inside which is annoying when you have to go back to your hostel/hotel to change.

This is a truly unique place. As someone who has seen 1000s of churches in my lifetime, this one certainly grabbed my attention. It's unique, stunning, peaceful and enchanting. A must for any traveller. Don't walk past this one without going in!

Beautiful, historic and well worth a walk though. An amazing mix of architecture, nicely preserved and easily accessed. Being there during the Christmas holiday made the Plaza all the more enchanting.
