Breath taking place.make sure you take time to read about it first and it will be easier to understand what it is and what the church means to the people of the region, if not it will just be another amazing church you have visited. More

I've visited this basilica several times at different times of the year and while one would expect it to be full at Easter, I was surprised at the constant flow of worshippers and pilgrims at a less religious time of the year. In fact, there were more tourists than worshippers at Easter. I've been to both St Peter's in Rome... More

Yes I am a tourist but it was full to the brim of people ignoring the sign saying "no photos" and barging around. Also you can't wear shorts inside which is annoying when you have to go back to your hostel/hotel to change. More

This church is wow from the outside and the inside. There are many beautiful domes and towers outside, and the famous pillar and Our Lady of the Pillar inside. Apparently the Virgin Mary is to have visited Zaragoza to offer moral support to the Apostle James. She left behind a pillar around which the basilica was built and added onto... More

A visit to the Basilica del Pilar is a must if you visit Zaragoza. The altars are stunning and the highlight is being able to kneel and kiss the pilar where the Virgin Mary appeared. There is an admittion fee of 2 euros to the museum but this is not worthwhile. The lift to the top of the Basilica is... More

This is a truly unique place. As someone who has seen 1000s of churches in my lifetime, this one certainly grabbed my attention. It's unique, stunning, peaceful and enchanting. A must for any traveller. Don't walk past this one without going in! More

architecturally it's impressive. worth the visit on that fact alone. the building is immense, and really breathtaking inside. especially the area of the Pilar. the outside plaza was filled w/ pilgrims coming from Canada & Italy. and it was great to see the large area infused w/ life. this obviously was an occasional thing, as they were en route to... Beautiful, historic and well worth a walk though. An amazing mix of architecture, nicely preserved and easily accessed. Being there during the Christmas holiday made the Plaza all the more enchanting. More
