Typical old village with good cliff walks, big beach and several fish restaurants, not at all spoiled by tourist development. More

It's worth the 5 mile detour down the road from Pajara. Here is old Fuerte before the tourists, a picturesque, tumble-down old village with the fishing boats pulled up on the black, volcanic boulders of the 'beach'. You need to travel through the lovely town of Pajara to find the little cove of Ajuy (pronounced ahoy ) on the west coast. It has the famous caves which are quite stunning, also a lovely beach and 2 or 3 places to eat. We tried the fish restaurant closest to the beach and were in for a sensational treat... More
