Ive stayed her on numerous occasions and it really is a breath of fresh air after Tenerife. Theres not a lot going on here but that is the main appeal. If you want empty beaches , good resturuants , easy goiong locals and holidaymakers - not to mention a rainforest permanently covered incloud and darkness 15 minutes driver awey, this... more

Stayed in Valle Gran Rey for three nights in March 2006 as part of a holiday that took in north Tenerife, Valle Gran Rey, and San Sebastian on the other side of La Gomera. A wide spread resort in two main parts, of mostly low-rise apartments on a thunderous black sand beach under magnificent towering cliffs (which I wouldn't like to be too close to). Plenty of small restaurants, shops etc, seeming mostly to cater for the German holidaymakers. Seems few original buildings or Spanish influence here in the resort. We were told that... more
