The Alcazar contains the military museum which offers display after display of uniforms and equipment, interspersed with accounts of Spanish military, social and political history. There is no clear chronological order in the displays and insufficent information about the way the country has developed over the centuries. The audio guide was inadequate and mine stopped working after the first few... More

Although the Alcazar looks very impressive and harmonious on the outside, its innards make it quite a challenge to love this monument. The Alcazar houses the Spanish Army museum, but is arranged in such an incongruous and ill-advised manner that you soon drown in the overdose of information provided. The Audioguide is not a great help in this respect: the... More

We visited Toledo by train from Madrid and the journey was simple and quick and the train was very comfortable and reaches Toledo in 30 minutes no stop. At the station be sure to catch the bus which takes you to the centre of town for a cost of 2 Euros each. The town is very hilly and full of... More

I was wandering around Toledo with my 17-year old son. We saw the building as walked to the old city from the train station, and it looked very impressive, but we were disappointed when we went inside. There is a museum of the Spanish army and armed forces, but we really didn't think it was worth the money. More

I was thrilled to finally go into the Alcazar after years of watching it closed for renovation. Upon entering, I was not disappointed and in fact amazed as the new builing has a huge atrium open to show the foundations and archealogical treasures in the Alcazar. A series of escalators take you up to enter the museum itself. As you... More

Most tourists have no idea about this museum simply because renovations were only recently finished. But I do have to say that I am so glad that we stopped by because it is the LARGEST military museum that I have been in. First, I liked that they preserved the Roman ruins underneath the Alcazar. And after taking an escalator WAY... More

Found the Alcazar to be a great place to get a timeline of history and see many artifacts representing the various periods. Displays were well done - in English, too. More
