There are plenty of other El Greco's to see without without wasting your money on this one. The rest of the building is very ordinary, or perhaps its because the others are so good it just seems mundane.

This exhibit, €2.50 admission, is of one painting, albeit one fabulous painting, el Greco's most beloved. The adjoining chapel, said to be "simple," was not open during our visit. Hint: if you stand around long enough, it's easy to eavesdrop on an English speaking tour in this small room. Large tour groups monopolize the space often.

I don't really care for El Greco, but I didn't mind paying the 2,50 Euro to see the church and the "The Burial of the Count of Orgaz.” Do read up before or while you visit (Rick Steve's book has an excellent description). The most special and memorable experience of our visit to the Parish Church of Santo Tomé was to come face to face with one of the greatest paintings of Doménikos Theotokópoulos, "El Greco", 'El entierro del señor de Orgaz' – generally known in English as 'The Burial of the Count of Orgaz'. El Greco's early training as a painter of...

There is one very good reason to visit Santo Tome, as everyone knows: to the see the magnificent mural of the Burial of Count Orgaz. This was my second time visiting Santo Tome, having also been there in 2006. And while the first time, my visit coincided with that of two large tour groups, this time we were fortunate to...

There is a ticket window where you purchase your ticket to see el Greco's masterpiece. "The Burial of the Count of Orgaz (pronouced Orgath). Study the history and information about the painting before seeing it. It is huge and the room will be filled with tour groups so be patient. (I can't imaging being there at the height of the...
