We did a side trip from Madrid to Avila and Segovia in the same day. (took a train to Avila, a bus to Segovia & then a train back to Madrid) We arrived in Segovia around 1:40 in the afternoon. And after checking out the Aqueduct, Plaza Mayor & the outside of the cathedral we headed to the Alcazar. The... More

Took tour to Segovia and Avila and had wonderful time. Good tour guide and in spite of the rain had great experience. The castle was was well maintained with some period furnishings. But being on a tour there was not really any time to shop so no souveniers from here. More

Beautiful castle, and the view from the tower is worth the climb. For those looking for the view that inspired Disney's Cinderella castle, you can make your way to Parque de El Alcazar and take the trail that goes around the Alcazar. It took us a while, so would only recommend the trail for those staying overnight, but it was... More

We loved our time in Segovia, after the aqueduct this would be the next most visited location, it is a nice easy walk from the aqueduct, through the paved streets to the other side of the city where the Alcazar is found, of course you can stop along the way and pick up a few treats from a local baker... A beautiful castle that has been extremely well preserved/restored. Ornately designed rooms with beautiful ceilings in many of the rooms. A must see in Segovia. There was also much historical military equipment from Medieval time until about the 1800s. More

I was debating Segovia versus Toledo, and chose Segovia because I wanted a break from the crowds of Madrid. I am so glad that I did. Not only is the aqueduct very imposing (and to think the Romans built it without mortar and it is still standing!), but also the town is very charming. I enjoyed both the outside and... More

The Alcazar looked rather modern on the exterior, though is said to be centuries old. Unfortunately, we were on a whilstlestop tour of Spain and didn't have time to go inside. More
