The gardens were largely closed in Feb and so were the crystal works, so our trip was a bit disappointing. They look like they would be incredible to walk around in the spring and summer. Go if you really like flemish tapestry. The rooms were interesting but it's no Versaille. I'd skip this place in the winter and late fall.

This place was a real secret for me anyway. The chapel is extraordinary, in itself worth the trip. But the palace is impressive, well preserved and displayed and quite amazing when you think it's just one of many the Spanish royals have enjoyed over the years.
