We took the funicular from the Paral-lel metro station (the funicular is integrated in the metro system, so if you get there with the metro, you can use the funicular without extra charge) to Montjuic.
First, we went from the funicular station to the Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer. It was a short walk, and the garden is truly lovely....

We saw this area on the bus and had we had more time would have spent more time visiting the gardens and various other attractions. Delightful area above the town with wonderful views.

We visited here with our 6 year old son. The trip up is fantastic using the funicular railway and cable car - you can walk back down through the gardens or using the cable car to come back down.
The castle at the top is fun and the views are great. A good way to spend half a day.

Travel up on the hop-on hop-off bus. Sit on the top deck - use sun cream - take in the lush greeness which us Brits don't always associate with Spain.

The Palau Nacional is on the Montjuich Hill and from its steps you can have a wonderful view of the city below. There is much to see at Montjuich.
