Great examples of Picasso's early work. The paintings he did as a teenager are amazing! It's definitely worth visiting, but not as comprehensive as the Picasso Mueum in Paris. more
The Museu Picasso is housed in a complex made up of five interconnected medieval palaces which added to my enjoyment of the work of this very famous artist. On March 9, 1963 under the name of The Sabartes Collection the museum opened its doors to the public. In 1970 Picasso himself donated nearly 1,000 more works that had been kept... more
Many of the works here are unsigned - donated by Picasso from his very, very early years - like before he even went to art school. This interesting intellectually, but definitely don't make this the only Picasso museum you ever visit. There are no masterpieces here. In fact, if these works hadn't been donated by the artist himself, I would... more
The museum is a nice quiet place but I'm not sure if this is the must see museum in Barcelona even if you are Picasso fan. Yet I am not denying that there is a beautifull self portrait he made when he was 16 years old. And the studies he made on Las Meninas by Velasquez are the eye catchers... more
We have seen all of his works in Malaga and Paris. And this is without a doubt the best showcase of his talent. It's a terrifc museum, and it's complimented perfectly by the audio tour. Picasso is without a doubt an amazing artist, and if you don't think so, I would recommend trying an audio tour to understand his brilliance... more
I would say my favorite works from the whole museum were the two large pieces of “The First Communion” and “Sickness and Charity.” They were very different from the typical Picasso works, but most of what is on display are small sketches or rough painting studies, etc. It is true that the museum is laid out mostly in chronological order,... more
If you're 'into' Picasso, you'll probably get something out of this large exhibition of his works. I came away unconvinced that he was anything other than a joker. I mean, he wasn't serious, was he? more
If you're a fan of Picasso, I would highly recommend this museum. While I was there (I am not sure if it was a permanent exhibit), they had almost all of Picassco's studies of "Las Meninas" by Velasquz. I spent at least an hour and a half just looking at all the different works there. It was truly was a... more
I enjoyed the Museum, especially the painting of the dove cote. One should be aware, however, that there is always a tremendously long queue to get in and you cannot take any photos once inside. The security staff did not hesitate to make this known to me, gesticulating, shouting and running towards me from all angles. You would think I... more
