This may be a touristy place, but not a tourist trap! It's fun, and fairly-priced. Tapas are not particularly creative, but - again - it's just fun being there with good friends and having some cool drinks. The owners make a point of greeting you - maybe just by means of a nod or through some friendly eye contact, but... more

The bar was full of people reading travel guides and it sure shows on the prices. They don´t have prices posted anywhere and a waiter will recommend you to order a mixed tapas. You´ll get a small plate of cheese, some sausage, a few pieces of bread and tey will charge more than 20 euros for it. You can get... more

Amazing! We went to El Xampanyet after having heard rave reviews from a friend that is originally from Barcelona. We went in late August, but it was closed for "vacation". Luckily, our stay in Barcelona extended through the first week of September, when it reopened. El Xampanyet opens at about 7 pm. It quickly fills up with people waiting outside... more

This is in all the Barcelona tourist guide sfor a reason...it is an obvious favourite with the locals. Arrive, find a (tiny) table in the colourfully tiled, family run gem. Arrive, ask the waiter for a selection of tapas and he will bring a number of tiny tapas, all generally cold but absolutely fantastic. Have the house cava and the... more

We went to this place on a friend's recommendation on the second night of a 3-night break in Barcelona, and we went back on the third night too to start our night we liked it so much. It's jam-packed in the evenings with what seemed to us to be a mix of locals and tourists - don't expect to get... more

We visited this lovely special tapas bar a couple of years ago and having not been to Barcelona since I am itching to return.  It took some finding though! Great cava served in what reminded me of Babycham glasses. We had the full tpaas selection which included the most amazing anchovies drizzled with red wine vinegar and the olives were... more

My wife and I tried to go here yesterday based on the reviews on here. We were just around the corner at about 10pm when I told my wife this looked like a shady area. We turned the corner and saw 7 guys robbing a guy that appeared to be alone. They took everything he had and ran away. We... more

Based on reviews, we took an evening out of our 3 day stay in Barcelona to go and visit this Tapas/Cava bar...and we were not disappointed! Straight away, on approaching the bar, we were served our drinks by the owner. He insisted on trying out a selection of Tapas by pointing to the food. We didnt understand Catalonian, but that... more

We had intended to visit here since seeing it on a documentary travel programme some years ago on which it was referred to as the 'Secret Cava Bar'. This gave the impression it would be hard to find, & tucked away but we found it easily just along from the Picasso Museum. We stood at the bar for a while... more

Small but packed with flavors, this bar is a must-see for any fan of tapas. Family-run, the service is efficient and friendly, food and drinks are sublime. Trust their recommendations if you are not sure what to order. Expect to stand but it is worth it. House drink is the eponymous "Xampanyet", apparently a cava-like sparkling wine. Reasonably priced. I... more
