Joan Miro's art is not for everyone, even the symbolism is itself symbolic, but after you walk down the Ramblas in Barcelona, and see his work embedded in the street, you may be sufficiently intrigued to visit the Fundacio. It was raining on the day we went. Spend an hour or two looking and eating at La Boqueria, then hop... more

Not a bad gallery by any means, but for such a large space the gallery is mostly taken up by very similar large abstract pieces that are very 'samey' and leave you thinking "Where is all his other stuff?" Some nice early works on the way in, including my personal favorite "Street in Pedralbes" but too many large scale abstract... more

like many other artists, he drew the normal until he went to Paris; then he started to draw the "unconscious". his work is highly unusual and despite we had the audio guide, was hard to grasp. Yet this is very interesting, and worth the visit if you have time. it's around ten minutes of uphill walk from the MNAC and... more

The museum is located on top of Monjuic. You can take the the bus (a beautiful trip) or a tram, which is also a funny experience. All in all great and intesting museum with a lot of funny art. It was easy to navigate and you can buy an audio-guide. On the bad side we had to wait long about... more

I went on Sunday & waited an hour to only get 15 mins in the gallery as they start closing everything 15 min beforehand. I had planned 90 min for miro and ended up with 15. It would have been understandable if the staff were trying to get everyone through as fast as possible, but no, only one girl was... more

The Funcacio Joan Miro can be found on Montjuïc and this in- and outdoor museum is worth a visit. There are some really nice paintings to see so you should go if you can appreciate modern art. (and if you like Miro you should also walk up to the Miro parc) more

The museum itself is perfect - wonderful art beautifully hung and so on. I LOVED it. But the best part might be the location. The park is a fantastic destination, with so much to do and see but without the frenetic tourist pace that permeates so many other attractions. It was my favorite part of Barcelona. We visited with our... more

Miro's art is not for everyone, but this museum is a treat, and I'd recommend at least going to see the work by this master (I personally would consider Joan Miro one of the 10 most important artists of the 20th century). The museum has hundreds of works by Miro, and a selection of works by other artists, many of... more

Well, not knowing a great deal about Miro I thought I should visit to get educated - and unfortunately discovered I am not a fan! I would warn anyone that is not particularly familiar with his work that if you're not fond of abstract art which borders on the incomprehensible then you're unlikely to enjoy what's on show at the... more

My wife and I are keen Mirofiles so we had to go. A bit disappointed by the fact that the familiar/popular paintings ie the colourfull ones were not there - probably in US museums and private collections. The museum had a large collection of the more "difficult" ones including a wall sized plain canvas with a diagonal chalk line drawn... more
