beautiful square, located in the center of Barcelona its end of the La Rambla Street and near from (Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria) Market you can go by walk until the Barcelona Beach
Good central location that became our reference point. Our Hotel was less than 10 mins walk away, it is a main change area for the hop on hop off buses, the bus to and from the airport leaves/finishes here (Euro 10.60 return), major shops (including El Corte Ingles -major department store that has great food/supermarket in basement), tourist information -... Large open square with fountains and with people selling all kinds of useless things. Full of people just sitting around and many more rushing across the square which is the center of Barcelona (stores, bus routes, metro). This is not an attraction that you need to go specially to visit. However, odds are that you'll cross the square once at... More
Feed the birds 2 euros ago !! This square reminds me of trafalger square many years ago!! It has atmosphere and sheer stand back take note to the people who are weaving in and out of the crowds ! Honestly it's nice just to go so you can say you have been and fed the birds
We cme down to the Placa Catalunya multiple times in a day as this was the point from where we took our hop-on hop-off bus. There are a large number of shopping malls, eateries, a beautiful fountain and a place where you can sit and soak in the sun. The square is very easily accessible by public transportation is quite... Barcelona's main square - the heart of the city with a huge area, shopping centers, fountains, hotels and metro stations and numerous bus stops. Here begins the tourist bus in Barcelona and here begins the Ramblas, which will lead to the monument to Columbus and the Port Vell.
On a hot sunny day the square is not to be missed. The fountains & statues are a spectacle along with the surrounding building. When ever we have visited the square it has always been busy, mainly due to the many links to public transport there is. As in most big cities a large square is bound to have a... More
One of the first place to start meet Barcelona! I think is important know about the square! great place to lose some time talking and watching the peoples around. Near has a lot restaurants to enjoy a lunch and dinner, and over there start the most famous street in Barcelona, La Rambla
This is where you pick up the start of the Red Bus tours. Just a few metres from Las Ramblas and good for people watching but not much more.
Nothing really happening here, fountains, pigeons, people asking for money. It a nice space to people watch, but as always the women with plastic cups were persistent, following tourists and begging. Nice if you want a bit of a sit down on your way to somewhere else :-)
