It was an escape from the city, but I would not go again. The mountains and souroundings are beautiful and the boys choir the highlight of the trip. There is however many things I would rather do in Barcelona.

We did the half day Montserrat tour while in Barcelona. The views from up there are fabulous. We didn't go into the montessorie because it was so crowded but we walked up the trail which was really nice. I recommend going there on your own,not with a tour because you ony have about 30 minutes on your own during the...

We did a morning tour out to Monserrat with Julia Travel. The bus ride out was decent, but the rack train that ascends the mountain is really something to see. The train is shockingly modern and out of place, but the views are spectacular. Once you arrive, the tour really limits your time to see what you need to before...

A train ride of a little over an hour from Barcelona to Monserrat was so worth it. It gave us a relaxing break from the hustle & bustle of the big city & into a scenic & exciting trip. The view from the mountain top is awesome! The monastery & church are beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices...

We took the subway to the train to Montserrat. It is not necessary to take a package trip, as public transit gets you right there easily. What an amazingly beautiful place, full of great hiking trails into the countryside full of mountains with great big balds and breathtaking views. Getting there is a little confusing- go to placa espanya, and,...

We went to Monastery of Montserrat by rentcar, took a cable railway. The way up to the monastery is great experince itself, but it was very interesting to see arround within monastery. There is also nice museum. In good weather I would also highly recommend to go further up and walk arround the upper station - great panoramic views.

Oh, Monserrat is a wondrous place in so many ways: historically, artistically, religiously and spiritually. And the natural setting is simply spectacular.
Get trip details from at FCG information, then catch the train from Plaça Espanya to either the Zipper Train or the Funicular. Either way, the ride is spectacular and the destination delightful. Arrange your travel time to see...

We had 5 nights/4 days in BCN & I’m so glad we did the side trip to Montserrat (we also did a side trip to Tarragona) Montserrat is so beautiful! We went for the hiking and we weren’t disappointed. (we didn’t even go into the Monastery).
We had planned on doing a lot more hiking but once we got there...

Wonderful place; fantastic view.... but choose your timing very carefully. I went on a national holiday.... and it took us 1 1/2 hours in traffic backup just to park! And once there? Packed to the max; tourists all rude because probably they were upset too. The staff at the main store was outrageously rude. Don't feel sorry for Spain. Obviously,...
