We were told by friends to go and visit Monserrat when in Barcelona ! We did so and it was as nice as they had told us ! We organised the visit by ourselves , bought the tickets in Plaza Espanya and arrived there around 11:00 hrs! Even if it was a Saturday , we were able to listen to... More

It's very well known all over the world but many avoid visiting because you have to make the effort to get there. But it's worth the trip. The monastery is alive with lots of monks that attend and sing at the celebrations. The virgin is black and romanic. Interesting museum thet includes even an egyptian mummy. The landscape is unbelievable.... More

We visited Montserrat while staying in Barcelona. We took the train from Placa de Espanya to Monsterrat. There was a kiosk at the train station which gave information on our choices. We bought a round trip Montserrat Aeri ticket which is the cable car. It was raining that day so we did not take the 2nd cable car which was... More

My family was in Barcelona and took a day trip to Montserrat on a tour. It was absolutely wonderful! The trip up the mountain on the curving roads was already fantastic as the views were spectacular. Everything was just so green and picturesque. It was really refreshing to see "old Spain" after visiting the trendy and modern Barcelona. The monastery... More

In my spare time, I do a lot of walking and climbing. I had the chance to do both In the Montserrat mountains. It was just stunning! simply beautifull! I walked all the end to the top, doing the longest road possible. And boy was I glas that I did that. Otherwise, I would have missed a lot of spectacular... More

The statue Our Lady Moreneta & the Child of Montserrat is dark in color not because it's painted but because history says it's because of the incense and candle smoke. high above the altar is the famous polychrome statue of the Virgin and the Child to which the faithful can pay their respects by way of a separate door.. The... More

My wife and I visited as a day trip from Barcelona. We took the cable car up the mountain, which is in itself a fun ride. The site is spread all over the mountain. The church is very pretty with the boy's choir performing daily (go early if you would like to sit and listen, which we would recommend). The... More

I was fortunate to visit Montserrat and the Black Madonna on a recent shore excursion tour from a cruise that stopped in Barcelona. It is about an hours drive from Barcelona and once off the main highway, the climb up the mountain is spectacular. We arrived around 9am and were able to go through and see the statue very quickly.... More

We took the FGC(R5 train) and aerial cable combo ticket for 19 euros round trip. The monastery was beautiful but our favorite part was taking the funicalar to the very top(5... More
