We had high expectation of Montserrat but it somewhat fell short of our expectations. It was far from our expectation of a tranquil monastery and everything seemed very commercialised. This was one of the highlights of the Barcelona visit and well worth climbing on a bus tour for the day. The landscape and scenery at Montserrat were wonderful; the mountain itself is so different than the ones surrounding it. The rocks are smooth rounded pillars keeping guard; it was really quite fantastic!
