This is impressive to see and relatively intact. We were able to watch a Gladiator demonstration as part of a special holiday event Tarragona was celebrating. Very interesting to see. More

We did a half day trip to Tarragona from Barcelona & it was a nice day wondering around the streets & checking out the old roman ruins Tarragona has to offer. The Roman Amphitheatre was built in the 2nd century and its stands were carved from the bedrock. The shape is oval and measures 109 meters by 86 meters, and it could hold 14,000 spectators. Previous reviewers have said that you can see the whole thing from the road, and this is true. However, by actually going into the amphitheatre you get more atmosphere. The whole thing is so well preserved, its easy to see where the action happened, where the animals/combatants came out and where the backstage preparations took place. If you go up... More

A great place to visit if you are interested in History and archaeology. Take a drink etc....and just chill out after your exploring on one of the half broken original seats and drink it all in. You can almost hear the crowds and can imagine what it was like thousands of years ago. Got some great photographs and the views... More
