The drive up to the castle was interesting to say the least, we had fingers crossed the whole way up that we wouldn't meet another car on its way down - but that kind of added to the fun of it all.

Really loved this castle! It was a knights templar castle and has a great leaflet in English all about the history.
It has amazing views from the roof terrace (accessed from the chapel) where you can see for miles. Also looking down on the river Ebro and orange groves.
Make the time to park in the village square and walk...

Visited at lunchtime on a hot ( 37c) August day, 2008. A lovely, unspoilt village with narrow streets situated on a bend of the Ebro river, several small bars/cafes serving all manner of food from snacks to Menu del dia, plenty of shade adjacent to the river. Miravet is still unspoilt by mass tourism. Go by car, across the little wooden car ferry that takes you across the river Ebro. Then a very short drive into the old village. Take a walk up through the village, and if you are wearing the right shoes, you can climb up to the Templars castle. Or you can drive up....
