As squares in Spain go, I really like this one ... but then again, I am very partial to street music. It was never predictable what type of music would be playing in the square -- bagpipes, university tunas band, didgeridoo. The music went on until well after nightfall, and most of it was just delightful. I found it fun...

The best part of Santiago is standing in front of the cathedral and watching the pilgrims arrive and celebrate their triumph. Chat with them and take pictures. It is soul stirring.

Lots of detail to be seen on the buildings around the square, particularly the cathedral. You can see pilgrims arriving and watch them being uplifted as they complete their journey...adding to the millions who have completed pilgrimages over the centuries.

This plaza is huge and is bounded by the Cathedral, the Rajoy Palace, and the Hostal de los Reyes Catolicos (the historic parador). The size of the square is impressive and the three big buildings around it add to its magnificence. It is a wonderful place to take photos and also to observe the people there. Many are sitting down...
