I was overcome by the same intangible sensation I experienced only once before at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The space itself is not exactly beautiful, but the spirit and energy of the millions of pilgrims drawn to this place is palpable ... and that makes the place beautiful. I visited the Cathedral 3 or 4 times over the course... More

Grandiose and magnificent architectural accomplishment. Very imposing structure as viewed from the facade and much more ornate from the portal until inside. Nice to have taken a photo inside but it is not allowed with a flash. Since it was too dim to take good picture, i should have taken a tripod, but still it is not allowed i think... More

Magnificent is the word that comes to mind first. Along with other peligrinos who had just completed the Camino Santiago de Compostella we wanted to sit and look up at this magnificent cathedral. 12 noon each day there is a mass to welcome all the pilgrims who had completed the walk. I found this very emotional. Even if you don't... More

The cathedral was recently and very lovingly restored. There is a very good self-guided audio tour available enriches the experience considerably. 6 Euros entry and 2 euros for the tour. Santiago de Compostela is one of the rainiest spots in Spain but don't be disheartened if you are there on one of the 300 days a year that it rains... More

The cathedral (also known as St. James' cathedral) is enormous and the architecture is spectacular. I actually went in April 2008 but was unfortunately unable to attend a service. No cameras with flash, of course, but it is free to look around. More

It's one of the most impressive Cathedrals I ever seen. It's amazing just sit outside to see all the pilgrims arriving all excited that they made the walk. More

Mass is at noon every day - and they did a high mass on the day we were there (May 2). The cathedral was packed - standing room only on all sides - and it's a LARGE cathedral. The nun directing the singing had a magnificant voice, the piety of the pilgrams on all sides was paletable, and touring after... More
