The Prado in on a lovely street. It is very easy to reach by Metro from anywhere in the city. It is a well organized and run museum. The brochure you get upon entering shows all the great masters in their collection and where to find them. My two favorites were Guernica by Picasso and El Jardin de las Delicias... more

This museum houses some great art work but unless you are a great lover of art it is best seen during the evening hours when the museum is free. Almost all of the art is religous art, relating to Christ's birth, crucifixon and other Christian themes. The painters are also mainly Spanish artists hence the repitive themes and the siilar... more

A huge museum. Easy to get to by subway, bus, and walking from lots of hotels. The line was not particularly long but be prepared if there is European day or other days where folks can get in for free. Once inside, try to secure the walking guide for a few bucks but know that they run out of them... more

This museum is one extraordinarily experience whether you’re an art expert or just a curious visitor. It has a huge collection of pieces from many famous artists, including Goya, Velasquez, etc, etc…Even just scanning through the collection will take at least half a day, so plan accordingly. The best way to beat the crowds is to go early in the... more

We went to the Prado on both trips to Madrid, the first time just before noon and had to fight our way through the a mass of tour groups. The second time we went around ten and the experience was much more pleasing - we had the museum to ourselves for about the first hour and a half. more

Terrific exhibiton in El Prado Museum dedicated to Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla. Includes his big pannels for the Hispanic Society of America (New York), called the Vision of Spain, and the wonderful Mediterranean paintings when he really catches the magic of sun and sea. Afternoon Sun, Horse's Bath, Eating on the Boat, Strolling along the Seashore and The Tuna Catch... more

We started the day off at the Museo del Prado! While Francis Bacon seemed to be the main attraction, I hurried through the exhibit because the images/paintings horrified me...and I don't even watch scary movies! My favorite paintings turned out to be of The Sleeping Beauty(Peaceful, Elegant, Dreamy, plus she was wearing a beautiful orange dress and the colors were... more
