The line to get in was very long, but it moved quicky. All the rooms of the palace are incredibly ornate. Even the ceilings are decorated. There are many different style as you move from room to room. One room has the wall and nearly everything else covered in porcelain. It is good to have a guide so that you... more

Palacio Real is a must see in Madrid. It is advisable to save a few hours for it and its probably best to go early in the morning. I took a guided tour and the gentleman was amazing. The rooms are very ornately decorated and quite interesting to see. As an author on history I saw the palace as Spain's... more

When we were in Spain it was raining so initially it was just somewhere to go that might be another warm break from the rain, but right from walking up towards it, we could see how spectacular it is. The entire palace is quite fabulous - it's like someone had a competition to see if they could make the next... more

Access to approx. 10 rooms inside the palace with admission, each adorned and decorated lavishly and completely different. Entire self-guided tour will take about 1 hour or less for the entire palace. There is also a "pharmacy" that you can tour which is where they made special concoctions to keep the royal family healthy. Entrance to the gardens behind the... more

We started by taking the Palace Tour in English and then after that, visited the Armoury. It can be a bit difficult to find the Armoury... more

We saw many attractions in Madrid, and this was by far our favorite. It is absolutely stunning. The rooms are gorgeous and there is so much history to be learned. The palace is wonderful and the armory is also interesting. The pharmacy was less interesting, so if you are short on time make sure you see the palace first, then... more

This is a really beautiful living museum. Parlors in the palace are each decorated in its own style (no pictures allowed). The Armory is 2 stories filled with wonderful crafted armor and weapons. Do not miss it. Tip, pictures taken from outside the gate would give a wider range than from inside the gate. more

The Royal Palace is not the current residence of the Royal Family and one can see why from the decorations in some of the rooms. The Palace is clearly a great and impressive building housing many of Spain’s treasures, but many of the rooms are a reflection of a time long since gone ... thankfully. The dark and over elaborate... more
