We spent a few hours relaxing and walking around the park. It was lovely and so much to see and lots of places to sit. Loved the boating lake. Spent time sitting on the steps watching the world go by. I could have easily spent hours and hours there recharging my batteries. more

In the beautiful city of Madrid, we thought that the Retiro park was the highlight. We arrived in the morning, planning to spend a few hours, but we stayed all day. The park is within easy walking distance from the centre of Madrid, following the Calle de Alcala from Puerto del Sol. The Plaza de Cibeles and the Puerta de... more

Make sure you visit this gem when in Madrid. Great to relax and enjoy your afternoon after a long day of walk at Museo del Prado. Beautiful landscapes, architecture. Great place to sit down or even rent a little boat. A must-see for Madrid. more

I have been to Retiro Park several times and find it to be one of the best city parks. It is very close to the Prado, about 2 blocks. The park is huge, covers 350 acres and includes a lake in the middle. What I really enjoy is how you can find many areas that are quiet with no one... more

Great park in the city centre, big enough - offers great walks opportunities, full of tourists, locals, joggers etc. Even though it's such a popular park you'll still be able to find peace and quiet here - there are lots of places within the park where tourists don't go that often (e.g. the statue of the fallen angel area) where... more

This is by far the best city park I have ever been to. Even better than what we expected after reading all the nice reviews here on Trip Advisor. The place is so serene and quite, and there is tonnes of shade as well as beautiful ponds and lakes. You can see ducks, fish and turtles competing for bits of... more

El Parque del Retiro it's a beautiful park with attractions, turists and places. All the ages can go and have fun around the beautiful lake where people can go inside a boat with their family and enjoy the sun. There also wonderful gardens, music concerts. more

We loved Retiro! During our recent visit to Madrid, we visited twice. The second time was a Sunday when all of Madrid spends time in the park - it was great for people watching. There is also a puppet show at the (teatro de titeres) theater near the NW corner on Sundays, it is mostly for kids but we were... more

It is no surprise at all that this park is rated the number one attraction in all of Madrid. They should give it it's own flag and call it a separate country . . . I found myself overwhelmed with culture shock while staying in Spain. Retiro Park was my haven to get my senses back. Another writer put it... more

We spent about an hour at the park, just walking and enjoying the peacefulness. It had great people watching and we loved feeding the goldfish and the ducks at the lake. It's a great place for a short visit and you can easily rent rowboats or go rollerblading there. It is very similar to Central Park in New York City... more
