Very nice palace to visite on a side trip from Madrid. Takes exactly 44 minutes on the C3 line that runs every 20 minutes or so. The Palace is a Spanish version of Versailles, down to the spectacular gardens and fountains. The town is small, but nice and has several restaurants aound the palace. More

The Palacio de Aranguez and its attendant gardens were one of the highlights of our trip to Madrid. The train from Madrid was very easy and inexpensive. The palacio is walking distance from the station in Aranjuez. We strolled the magnificent royal gardens when we arrived before even going into the imposing palace and spent more than 2.5 hours in... This is an interesting place. Very ornate and historic. Gives you a feel for what the lifestyle of royalty might have been like way back when. Young adult sons enjoyed it too. More

Now I know why and how Rodrigo managed to compose the Concierto de Aranjuez. Though blind nearly all his life, the great composer was inspired by the rhythm and quiet melody of the Royal Gardens and hunting grounds near the Palacio Real. Aranjuez is so near Madrid it should be a must-destination and in every tourist's itinerary. http://marilil.wordpress.com/2012/04/30/33-concierto-de-aranjuez-a-day-trip-from-madrid/ More

A pleasant train ride and about 15 minute walk from the station (poor signage but you can see where it is as the train pulls in) For a few euros you can get an English tour. Beautiful gardens. More manageable size than the other royal palaces. If possible, go in summer when they have the strawberry train. More

Really cool palace with fabulous rooms. Its a shame you cant take pictures inside but outside on a clear day the view of the palace is brilliant. Catch a train from Atocha Renfe and return ticket costs about €6.50. Very comfy train ride. More

We visited this "palace" (more like a stately home) a couple of times and it main attaction to us is the unhurried peace and space of its grounds as well as as its very intereresting historic interiors. Seek out the multi-gym (I mean it!) and the now public park across the road with its great restaurant within. More
