Went to the Royal Botanic Garden because it was something to do and read about it as a plant museum. Thought that meant it to be super informative and interesting. Although cheap-3 euros -the Garden isn't well cared for or thought out. The Bonsai trees were lovely but the Botanical Gardens was rather small and unimpressive especially considering the calibre of the city and the Parque del Retiro. My advice skip the Gardens and head for the park, better cared for, more interesting and free.

Beautiful place to stroll. Right next to the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia museums.

Lots of trees and shrubs but not a lot of thematic or generic beds to study. Not a touch on many other botanic gardens .. but it is an oasis from busy Madrid

This botanical garden is over 200 years old with specimens of the same age. Whether or not you're a gardener, this garden should be near the top of you list of things to see in Madrid. The plants and views throughout the garden are stunning.

The tulips were mostly finished flowering, the trees and shrubs were in bud and there's lots of work going on - I'm sure it's more spectacular later in the year.

Many of the tulips were in full bloom, and we were glad we were there on a sunny day. The garden is gorgeous, has a huge variety and flowers and trees, and is exemplary. For 3€ for me and free for my husband who is over 65, this is a steal!

Lovely oasis in the centre of Madrid well kept and just so relaxing. I will go back later in the year to see it in full leaf and colour.

A perfectly chilled location, wonderful walks and if you feel like some exercise then try the boating lake.
