We have seen other beautiful gardens in Spain, including the spectacular gardens at the Alhambra, and this garden was a disappointment. The grounds are well-kept and nicely manicured, but there were not many flowers in bloom during our visit (late April). There were a lot of trees, bushes, herbs, and other non-flowering plants. After a long string of monuments and buildings, a little green is a welcome change. The entrance is 2 euro but I suppose it is only worth paying for in Spring and early Summer. Was already bare in late Summer, so we should've gone to Retiro Park for our green and bustling people watch. It's well kept and I could... more

The Jardin Botanico is next door to the Museo del Prado, take Metro stop Banco de Espana. Admission was 2€ for an adult. We walked through most of it, going up and down each aisle. I’m not one for knowing flowers, plants, grass or trees. It was a nice walk and had lots of nice, well kept plants and flowers.... more
