Top ways to experience nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very nice and friendly owner who explained the history of the family plates. The prices are also reasonable. Worth a visit.

Various booth with different foods accompanied with wine, sangria or beer and non-alcoholic beverages
Some high tables to devour your purchases. Most food will be heated in microwave. Never heard but just tried Bugatta whipped cheese in bread, must try.. at El señor I had salpicon Marisco ( seafood salad), than sushi, Ham on bread and baclava. Hold on to your receipt so you can use the bathroom downstairs. enjoy but remember €3 than another €5 each purchase will add up with 3 ppl we spent €55

Had heard about this shop from a friend and was not disappointed! It is packed with beautiful pieces of hand painted pottery. It was difficult to decide. While some may find pieces to be a little pricey, when you consider the work and artistry it’s not. You can find cheaper stamped pieces but for a true piece of Spanish culture, this is your shop. Also the gentleman who has the store is 4th generation with an in depth knowledge of the pieces he represents. So interesting to talk to! He packages your purchases with extreme care. Be sure to have your passport number for the VAT tax form.
Well worth a visit.

I just loved it! The shop is tiny but it's full of beutiful ceramics of all sorts.
I spent quite a lot of time in Madrid looking for a good set of painted seramic tiles at a reasonable price and I was happy to run into San Miguel Artesania. The saleswoman was sooo nice! She helped me with everything and I finally bought a set of Don Quijote tiles, a number of ornate plates, a mug... and something else :D
The prices are really low here but you will definitely like the quality of ceramics!

This wonderful pottery store had the best selection of hand made pottery around, but the real treasure is the owner. I would highly recommend a stop at her store.

I visited both places: Antigua casa Talavera and this shop, and I decided definitely to buy from here gifts for my family. In both shops the ceramics is handmade but in this shop the ceramics is less expensive then the other shop.

Bought a sangria pitcher as well as a couple plates here. Person working there was awesome. Helped us pick out our things as well as wrapped them carefully. So many beautiful things here. Small shop but such great stuff. Better than any other souvenir you can buy
