Gorgeous gardens, lawns, fountains, cycling paths, great for walking or running, great to go Sunday afternoons and stroll through all the Valencian families out for a paseo. I've found it to be an even better spot for sunbathing than the beach due to the lack of wind/sand, also great for reading or studying or hanging out with friends during the... More

Beautiful park (an old river bed), you can walk and cycle for miles, passing orange trees and fountains. Get to the Palau de la Musica to see the lovely dancing fountains. Then continue until you reach the City of Arts and Sciences, very impressive. Lots of things to see and do along the way, the Gulliver park, hire bikes, take... More

They changed the course of the river Turia, and transformed the old river bed into a winding park that circles the city, where most of the museums are located, in general a wonderful idea. More

The old river bank (the river was diverted after serious flooding in the late 50s) is being converted into a rural space in the heart of the city. Part-complete with more development ongoing, the old riverbed provides around 9km of paths for pedestrians, runners/joggers and cyclists - all flat so easy to use and punctuated regularly with lakes, fountains, flower... This is a hive of activity. Pleasantly arranged and with sports activities, markets and exhibitions throughout the year. You can take a stroll, run, bike, pasea along any section of the c.8km old river bed, it's safe and very pleasant and offers good shade from the midday sun! More

Went for a run at night and it was fabulous. A stretch of almost 8 km., mostly flat, without traffic noise and among trees and shrubs. Loads of sports facilities along the way, exercising points, benches and lawn to have picnics on, low-key restaurants full of families, children playgrounds, a lake complete with ducks and fish, etc. Great for any... A compliment one has to make to Valencia is that it got many things in urbanism right. The best example is the old riverbed of the Rio Turia, which has ben converted into a great recreational zone with football fields, playgrounds and jogging lanes. It is a huge park leading from the edged of the old town down to the... More
