The sculpture of The Virgin is a beautiful work of art. Best of the Basilica is to be there at Mass and testify the fervor of the attendants when singing the himn dedicated to Her. More

This church is home to the much venerated Virgen de los Desamparados, and as such an important destiny for local pilgrimage. The church itself has not artistic interest whatsoever. If you go there for a prayer, fine. If not, leave the people who worship the statue of the Holy Mary alone and visit one of the other tourist sites around... More

The plaza in front of it is just great. It has a big fountain and bars. The church is nice also, but actually paying to get in and see it from the inside is not worth it! (3.50 euros for an adult ticket; are we kidding?) More

this place is lovely to. Set in the older part of the city the Virgin is paraded through the old cobbled streets. Flowers are brought in from Holland for this fiesta and the smell is just incredible. There is quite a religious ceremony and the locals make a huge effort to dress in costume, bands are out in full swing... More

With a nice self guided audio tour, it was easy to navigate through the significance of the various religious arts in this church with a tie to the Borgia pope. More

The Basilica de la Virgen de los Desamparados is a small church that is located behind the Cathedral. The Virgin Mary found in the church is the patron saint of the city and the people of Valencia love her and dress her in beautiful clothes and jewels. The second Sunday of May is her feast day. Below her on the... More
