Capri is wonderful - take the boat trip around the island - round trip is €13 (or thereabouts) but whatever you do DON'T GO TO THE BLUE GROTTO! A bigger con there never was. Boat men who bring you in are extremely aggressive. They row up to the tourist boats and fight over passengers. You pay to go in -... more

At the harbor on Capri you purchase a ticket to the Blue Grotto. You are taken to the grotto on a small launch. When you arrive at the grotto you are transferred to a small dory piloted by a rower. You are take alongside a small boat where you have to pay another fee to go into the grotto. You... more

We were tossing up arranging our trip to Capri and the Blue Grotto ourselves, thinking we could do it cheaper and not wanting to get ripped off. But after looking into it, taking a tour was a far better option - you see more, it's a great trip out there and you get preferential treatment to get a row boat... more

The trip over to see the Blue Grotto was the highlight of this trip. You got to see the island of Capri and the wonderful waters surrounding it. A great guide on the boat always helps, pointing out near little things. Once we got to the Blue Grotto, however, you must wait to hop into a smaller boat. You spend... more

To begin with ignore the touts before and after the boat to Capri offering tours of the Grotto. When on Capri look on the dock for a building clearly labelled as blue grotto, head to that and you will pay about 12 euro's for a boat TO the grotto. To get in once you are there you move to a... more

Yes, it's been called a tourist trap.....and it's been over run with people, but we loved seeing the grotto while in capri in May , 2009! We did a two hour boat ride around the island, and stopped at the grotto to hop in a dingy for a ride into the beautiful blue water. It acutally looks exactly like the... more

Ok, so now I can check it off my list, 'Been There Done That!' What a complete scam those little row boats are. If you can jump in and swim, then it would absolutely be worth taking an open air cab down to the steps and checking it out. The row boats charge 10.50 euro a person - 1 boat... more

We visited the Blue Grotto in the beginning of October 2008. I thought it was a lot of fun. We were staying in Anacapri and took the bus for 1.25 Euro (quite an experience in itself) to the Blue Grotto. The bus stops there and everyone (mostly tourists) gets off and walks down the stairs. We were pretty close to... more

I visited Capri this past August 2008, and decided to take a little boat trip to the Blue Grotto. This is by far an overblown tourist attraction which is severely overpriced, and not worth the time/money. The water in the Mediterranean is a beautiful blue - guess what, the water in the cave is also blue! Except now it's just... more
