Pompeii can be difficult to walk around as it is such a large area, Ercolano on the other hand is smaller and in my opinion better than Pompeii. I would recommend stopping here on way back to city from Pompeii.

9 of us hired one of the guides that will meet you when you enter Herculaneum. We had a wonderful time and felt that because if was smaller than Pompeii it was more meaningful.
