The Castle seems quite well-perserved. But other than the building itself, and a GORGEOUS view from the top, there is not much to visit. Basically, you are only allowed on the roof of the castle.

The view from the castle is great and if you take the time to walk around the castle, you notice the gigantic walls. Do NOT pay the 5 Euros at the entrance - we bought a ticket only to find that the elevator to the top and the view are free. The ticket is required to visit a museum of...

The views from the terrace are the best you will find in Naples, but there is little else to see there (for 5 EUR). There was a mordern art exhibition in the main building. Apart from that the castle houses city police administration, and there is not entry to any castle rooms. I wouldn't recommend it if you have limited...

If you love panoramic views of the city, then you should definitely get to Castle S.Elmo!

Castel Sant'Elmo isn't much of as far as the other buildings in Naples but it has the best view in all of Naples. We had some trouble finding Sant'Elmo but the view was worth it.

The castle itself is more impresive viewed from outside rather than inside.But the view of the city and the Gulf of Napoli from its terrace is breathtaking.Not crowded.Free entry with Campania ArteCard.Can be reached on foot from one of the funicular stations Morghen(funicular Montesanto) or Piazza Fuga(funicular Centrale).
Right next to the castle is Certosa di San Martino.

After walking from Garibaldi station through the Centro Storico I took the funcular from Montesanto to Morghen (a few minutes). I came across the Castel and took the lift to the top of the walls (about 6 euros). You can walk around the entire walls and have 360 views of Naples, and depending on the haze Bay and Vesuvius.
